A SYNDICATED AGRICULTURAL COLUMN

Hold up,

stop scrolling!

On March 20, 2023, at around 5:30 p.m., I was told I would most likely miscarry my baby, and if I didn’t lose her, she would probably be born with the chromosomal abnormality Turner syndrome. Getting this news was devastating, shocking, confusing, frustrating, and above all, incorrect. This is the story of my family’s experience with Non-Invasive Prenatal Testing (NIPT) and how I lost faith in much of the medical community.

I know my NIPT story is not ag-related, but I’d be remiss if I didn’t use my platform to talk about it.

This column offers a fresh perspective on the ag industry and its culture as well as my experience as an agriculturist mixed in with some old-timey ranch tales I’ve heard from friends and family over the years expressed in essays and poems.
